What is the difference between Short and Long-Term Therapy?

Different kinds of talking therapies can help you through your unique situation, whether you’re going through a bad time or need help and support with a specific problem or issue. According to the NHS, talking therapies can be just as or more effective than medication.

Therapy can be short or longer-term. You may end therapy at any time, simply by letting me know.

Short-term therapy typically refers to solution-based therapy with a distinct goal in mind (for example, looking at patterns of negative thinking or anxiety).

I offer 10 sessions where we will work on your specific goals and carefully monitor your progress along the way, focusing on issues you are experiencing in your day-to-day life.

Long-term therapy sessions can be more led by where you decide to take each session, exploring your past, thoughts, memories or experiences. This would help you understand both yourself and how your past may affect things you do today.

Online Therapy

While traditional face to face counselling is often considered preferable, online technologies like Skype and Zoom have made counselling and psychotherapy accessible to everyone. I provide personal online therapy to clients in and out of the UK.

This could be beneficial for people that are housebound, allowing access to therapy without the need for travel. Others have preferred online therapy while travelling on business regularly.
